Lilith Medicine: An Archetypal Clinic
What Myth are you Living?
What is an Archetypal Clinic?
Most of us inherit stories about who we are long before we have the language to question them. Family stories. Cultural stories. Religious stories. Stories about womanhood, love, power, sexuality, belonging, goodness, success and exile. Eventually, we can mistake the role we learned to play for the person we actually are.
Lilith Medicine is a one-on-one practice of re-mything. Together, we identify the stories and archetypal patterns organizing your life, locate where you are standing inside them, and begin building new ways of seeing, understanding and inhabiting your own story.
We begin at the threshold where you are standing now.
There is no predetermined curriculum because there is no predetermined woman. The work takes shape around what we find: myth, memory, biography, archetype, ritual, correspondence, the body, culture, relationship, imagination and the material of your actual life.
We start with what is alive.
Every woman enters through a different door.
Re-mything begins at the threshold.
Before we decide where you are going, we look at where you are standing. The Archetypal Clinic begins with a private orientation designed to draw out the stories, tensions and archetypal patterns that appear to be most alive in your life right now.
It isn't a diagnosis, and it isn't a personality test. It is a point of entry.
Your responses give us our first glimpse of the myth you may be living: the story you have inherited, inhabited, resisted or perhaps already begun to outgrow.
We begin there.
Then we follow the thread.
Finding the threshold gives us a place to begin. From there, we follow what emerges.
Your life becomes the text.
Together, we begin tracing the myths, memories, inherited stories, relationships, symbols, repetitions and contradictions that have shaped the world you are living inside. We look for correspondence: where the same story appears in different forms, where an old role keeps asking to be performed, where something exiled keeps returning.
This is where re-mything becomes deeply personal.
I draw from mythology, Hermeticism, esoteric traditions, cultural criticism, ritual, imagination and material from the Lilith Academy to create work specifically for you. There is no workbook waiting with your name pasted onto it. What you receive is made in response to what we are actually finding.
We follow the thread until we can see the story.
The work takes the shape the work requires.
The Lilith Academy moves through a wheel of its own. Each Salon is a concentrated body of study, built around a particular theme and entered on its own terms.
The Archetypal Clinic moves in the opposite direction.
Here, we begin with you.
Everything I have developed through the Academy becomes part of what I think of as materia mythica: an accumulated body of mythology, Hermeticism, Gnosticism, archetypal inquiry, cultural criticism, ritual, symbolism, history and imagination gathered across years of study and the Salons I have created.
In the Academy, these materials are encountered in concentrated form. Inside the Clinic, I draw from them according to what your particular re-mything requires. Something from one Salon may meet something from another because your life reveals a correspondence between them that no predetermined curriculum could have anticipated.
And when the work asks for something that does not yet exist, I create it.
In the Academy, you enter the material.
In the Clinic, the material comes to meet you.
The method follows the woman. The woman does not follow the method.
Sometimes the work builds a world of its own.
One woman's work led us into a mansion.
Mansion of the Mind emerged from the need to give an inner life somewhere to exist. Instead of speaking about memory, identity, relationships, grief, desire, inherited stories and unfinished experiences only as abstractions, we began imagining them spatially: as rooms, corridors, thresholds, archives and places that could be entered, observed and revisited.
The mansion became a way of seeing what had previously been difficult to see.
Where are you standing? Which rooms do you return to? What have you stored away? What belongs in the archive? Which doors have never been opened? What part of the house are you living in now?
This was not a method waiting for a client. It emerged because the work required it.
Another woman's re-mything may build something entirely different.
